DescriptionTwo images showing Louise Fischer's artwork that was painted on the wall of St. Peter's Hospital smudge room. These photos ran in the newspaper article on September 16, 2015. Smudging is an important part of healing for many tribal groups and is often done at the beginning of ceremonies and other cultural activities. the Helena Indian community, including Louise Fischer and Dan Pocha, worked with St. Peters to create a dedicated smudge room. Note that not all tribes smudge. Fischer described the cultural significance of the images: "Images in art: Water is really important to healing; nature is our relatives so wanted to include nature.
