DescriptionA small range on the southwestern edge of Glacier National Park, the Apgar Mountains are noted for abundant crops of huckleberries and for grizzly bears. The range was named for the Apgar family—Milo, Diane, Harvey, and Esli—who homesteaded along the shore of Lake McDonald. Later, Harvey Apgar and his wife, Jessie, rented “tourist camps” to park visitors, and Jessie acted as postmaster at the town of Apgar.Personal NamesApgar, MiloApgar, DianeApgar, HarveyApgar, EsliApgar, JessieContributing InstitutionMontana Historical Society Library and ArchivesGeolocation[1] CountyGlacier National Park
