DescriptionSheep rancher J. T. “Doc” Armington established the town of Armington on his property in 1888, building the first home for himself. The town was on the line of the Neihart branch of the Montana Central Railway, and it served as a freighting depot to supply the mining camps of the Little Belt Mountains and the farmers and ranchers of the Highwood and Judith Basin areas. Andrew Voight owned and operated a brick and stucco plant at Armington that furnished bricks to the Anaconda Company in Anaconda and Great Falls. Armington’s bright future, however, faded with the establishment of the coal-mining community of Belt 2 miles down the road.Personal NamesArmington, J.T.Voight, AndrewContributing InstitutionMontana Historical Society Library and ArchivesGeolocation[1] Elevation3563 ft.CountyCascade County
