DescriptionCharles Bain, a northeastern Montana entrepreneur, established a post office 3 miles southwest of here in 1904. The following year, residents moved the town to its present location to provide better access to the Great Northern Railway. Bainville became a railroad division point with the construction of a branch line to Scobey in 1911. When Bainville incorporated in 1918, it had 5 hotels, 2 grain elevators, and more than 400 residents.
