DescriptionIn 1914, Hans Christian Hansen filed for a homestead at this 60-foot-deep, spring-fed lake named for the chokecherry and buffalo berry lining the shore. He built the Brush Lake Summer Resort, which attracted farm families from miles around during the area’s brief summers. Owners Charles Huebner and Albert Morin erected a bar and café in 1919–20; a dance pavilion followed in the 1940s. The State of Montana designated the 280-acre lake a state park in 2005.
