DescriptionPennel Creek in eastern Montana is named for Joe Pennel, a station agent on the Fort Abraham Lincoln–Fort Keogh wagon road in the 1870s. Pennel’s station was burned by Indians about 1880. Just north of the creek, on Dead Man’s Butte, is a monument to a stage driver named Fritz or Fries, killed near there in 1880.Personal NamesPennel, JoeContributing InstitutionMontana Historical Society Library and ArchivesGeolocation[1] CountyFallon CountyCuster County
