DescriptionIn 1912, Henry Turner built a store on the east bank of Buckley Coulee and opened a post office later that year. The community of Turner was born. When the Great Northern Railway came through the “Big Flat” in 1928 with its new line between Saco and Hogeland, it missed Turner. Undeterred, the citizens packed up their buildings and belongings and moved the town 2 miles to its present location along the railroad tracks.Personal NamesTurner, HenryContributing InstitutionMontana Historical Society Library and ArchivesGeolocation[1] Elevation3043 ft.
