DescriptionAs with a number of Montana towns, stories differ on how Savoy received its name. One suggests that it is named for the nearby creek, while the second indicates that Great Northern Railway officials named the Savoy railroad station in 1909 for a region in France. Savoy’s post office opened that same year. In 1916, residents platted a townsite and built a school, teacherage, and store.
