DescriptionEarly settlers awed by the natural beauty and fertile soil of this area along the Yellowstone River named it the Paradise Valley. The valley remained part of the Crow Indian Reservation until the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1883. Hollywood transplants Peter Fonda and Jeff Bridges are longtime residents, and San Francisco hippie poet Richard Brautigan lived up Pine Creek in the north end of the valley. Paradise Valley provides a dramatic backdrop for tourists traveling to and from Yellowstone National Park.Personal NamesFonda, PeterBridges, JeffBrautigan, RichardContributing InstitutionMontana Historical Society Library and ArchivesGeolocation[1] Elevation4861 ft.CountyPark County
