DescriptionLoring began as a stop on the Great Northern Railway’s branch line between Saco and Hogelund. The name possibly came from Charles M. and Albert C. Loring, flour mill owners in Minneapolis. The post office opened in 1929. For a time, Loring bustled with activity. Eventually, it became a stopover for tourists on their way to Canada.
