DescriptionNearby Mount Edith, the highest peak in the Big Belt Mountains, was named for 12-year-old Edith Wallace, who hiked up the mountain in 1881, in a party led by local ranchers C. W. Cook and J. O. Hussey. The assumption is that the lake was then given the same name as the peak.
