These screen prints were developed as safety posters for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company (ACM) in Butte, Montana throughout the 1960s and 1970s. John Powers was a well-known cartoonist for the company’s safety department and also worked as a miner.
This collection of prints is a stunning representation of safety procedures and examples, both of men’s actions mining underground and taking part in everyday life above. The safety posters were designed and printed specifically for the safety department of the ACM.
