DescriptionThe Billings Hardware store and warehouse building was the location of the Public Library on North Broadway from 1968-2013. See Board Backs Stand On Library Proposal, Billings Gazette, January 27, 1967. It was opposed by those who wanted a new building or a series of branch libraries, including Mayor Willard Fraser - See - Storm Center 'Librarian's Dream', Billings Gazette, August 30, 1966 and the Billings Architectural Association, who opposed use of the hardware firm's building as a 'second-rate' solution to the city's library needs - See Library Bond Sale Wednesday, Billings Gazette, June 21, 1967.
