Tracy Company expanded into Billings and the Tracy Building was built in 1919. To see a biography of Tracy - See The History of Montana by Helen Fitzgerald Sanders, Volume 1, 1913. The National Register District expansion nomination states, 'The George L. Tracy Company, under the management of C. W. Gorham, moved into the newly constructed warehouse at 2600 Montana Avenue in 1919 as 'manufacturer's agents.' The company expanded the building eastward in about 1923 with a one-story brick addition and concrete loading dock for trucks. After the addition was built, the buildings address was reassigned from 2600 to 2528 Montana Avenue. The Ryan Fruit Co., a wholesale fruit, produce and grocery business, began leasing the addition in 1925.' See Billings Town site Historic District (Boundary Increase) by Ann Kooistra-Manning (2006).
