Yellowstone County Courthouse, the 2nd large county courthouse in the history of Billings, was built in 1903 (along with the new County Jail) - See Butte Firm (of John W. Shackelton of Butte and Augustus S. Whiteway of Boise / Billings) Gets the Contract for New Jail, Anaconda Standard, September 12, 1903. In 'need of repair and storage space,' the building was demolished, shortly after the new Courthouse was built on North 27th Street.
