DescriptionAustin North's 'Stone House,' circa 1915, the result of his friendly rivalry with P. B. Moss. A Billings land developer, North first built the extraordinary 'Castle' house on North 29th Street in 1903 to catch the eye of train passengers and attract new builders. Fellow developer and entrepreneur Moss countered by building his own grand estate in western Billings, the Moss Mansion. Not to be outdone, North sold the Castle and began construction on the Stone House at the foot of the Rimrocks. Contributed by the North family.
