DescriptionTurquoise Lake. Looking west from lower end of lake towards Mount Shoemaker left with Sunrise Glacier and Glacier Peak near left center. Mount Shoemaker was named on May 20, 1960, in memory of Theodore Shoemaker (deceased) of the U.S. Forest Service for conducting organized exploration of the Mission Mountains from 1922 and for subsequent efforts in having the Mission Mountains dedicated as a wilderness area.
