DescriptionThis reservoir is named for Joseph Ninepipe, a member of the Salish nation who sold his allotment to the federal government for its Flathead Irrigation Project. Between April and September 1910, a crew employing Fresno scrapers and graders excavated more than 11,000 yards of soil and constructed 29 miles of canals and ditches. The reservoir contains approximately 1,672 acres of water as part of the BIA Flathead Irrigation Project, which provides flood control and irrigation.
